Dear friends,
We are approaching the end of another year, a sensitive time for families around the world.  Much more so for those who have lost their loved ones.  And in the case of the Cuban 5 because they remain imprisoned in the United States they are still missing from the tables of their homes.

This year René González returned to his homeland and in 2014 Fernando González will return after serving, like Rene, his complete sentence.  We cannot allow Antonio to have to wait until his sentence is finished in 2017, or Ramon in 2024, or Gerardo to live the rest of his life in prison!
It has never been more urgent and necessary to continue the struggle for the freedom of the Cuban 5 unfairly imprisoned in the United States.  Every day that passes is one more day of injustice committed against them, their families and their people.  To punish with outrageous prison sentences the very men whose mission was to defend their people against cowardly attacks while the perpetrators of these attacks walk free is absolutely detestable.
The renowned Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez defined the attitude of the U.S. towards the Five as “the blow of a beast under a light that was blinding it"
2014 is beckoning us to multiply our actions in support of the Five in all parts of the world, with renewed strength. We must never stop demanding that President Obama release the Five, and it is important to continue to take the struggle to Washington, the seat of power responsible for the imprisonment of the Five for more than 15 years.
The International Committee for the freedom of the Cuban 5, is already immersed in the organizing of the Third “5 Days for the Cuban 5 in Washington DC" which will take place from June 4-11 2014. This action was unanimously supported by the 272 delegates from 52 countries who attended the IX Colloquium for the Liberation of the Cuban Five recently held in the city of Holguin.
A way to actively contribute to this campaign is to help raise the necessary funds to carry out all the activities. We need your support to make these actions a success.  Plans for the 5 days will include a rally in front of the White House, a large public meeting with known personalities and parliamentarians from abroad to come with us to knock on the doors of the Congress of the United States.
